On Aug. 11, Mitt Romney announced U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., was his pick for a Vice President, immediately sending the outdoors community into a frenzy.

For hunters, the pick of Ryan as a running mate is huge, because, well, Ryan is one of us. He isn’t a pretend politician hunter, or even a passing irregular. Ryan is, in fact, a dedicated hunter who absolutely loves the sport and stands up for it every chance he gets. What’s more, Ryan recently discussed his love for hunting and its strong roots in his family with Deer & Deer Hunting magazine.
